DALLAS, Texas / SYDNEY, Australia –- August 11th, 2009

OTA Training, the global leader in hands-on, vendor-neutral RFID training and certification, has initiated the creation of the RFID Australasia group. The purpose of the group will be to facilitate the awareness, knowledge and adoption of RFID technology within the Australasia region.

“Anyone interested in RFID can apply to join the RFID Australasia group,” said Jonathan Elcombe, GM of OTA Training Australasia. “They can then participate through introductions to other members, initiate discussions online, and respond to questions surrounding the topic of RFID technology.”

In conjunction with the OTA course offerings held in Australia, including Canberra, Sydney and Melbourne, OTA is pleased to provide a space for discussion, forum and networking opportunities for RFID professionals. The group already includes more than 40 contacts since its inception.

“The intent is to increase the number and enhance the quality of connections for everyone interested or involved in RFID within Australia, New Zealand and Southeast Asia,” Elcombe said. “Everyone can learn more about the state-of-the-art RFID technology, research and innovation from academic, government and industrial researchers, as well as connect with counterparts at businesses that have already implemented RFID systems into their commercial operation.”

Serving as managers for this group are: Elcombe; Chester Lennard, Director at ElectroCom (Australia) Pty. Ltd in Melbourne; and Maurice Waters, Senior Account Manager for OTA Training.

OTA is currently working with its Western Pacific Rim clients, RFID vendors, end-user companies and partners, such as GS1 Australia, to help in adding to the collective knowledge of the RFID Australasia group. OTA Training is inviting contacts at these organizations as well as an increasing number of other RFID-interested professionals to join the RFID Australasia Group as members.

“With the gradual growth in the number of RFID implementations across the continent and throughout the Western Pacific Region, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to stimulate and help build a strong virtual community of people interested in RFID technology, innovation and system implementation,” said Robert Sabella, Founder and CEO of OTA Training.

OTA is looking forward to the RFID Australasia group being a major contributor to the proliferation of RFID technology locally by contributing to the personal and professional communications, which will increase knowledge and awareness of RFID technology worldwide.

The RFID Australasia group is currently accepting membership requests. To join the RFID Australasia group, visit http://www.rfidaustralasia.com or contact Jonathan Elcombe at +61 2 8005 0779.
